The appeal challenging nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-N supremo and former three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been fixed for hearing on today, Wednesday.

Justice Risal Hassan Syed will take up the appeal moved by Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhary, who is head of Pakistan Awami Mahaz.
Ishtiaq Chaudhary in his plea had argued that the Supreme Court had previously declared Nawaz Sharif ineligible, pointing out that he is not qualified to participate in elections. The petitioner argued that the returning officer, in contradiction to the established facts, accepted Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers.

He asked the tribunal to reject the decision of the returning officer as the acceptance of his nomination papers were against the facts.
He also asked the tribunal to declare Nawaz Sharif ineligible to take part in the elections.

The hearing on the plea against Nawaz’s ineligibility takes place at the moment when the country’s top court is seized with the hearing of the case of lifetime disqualification of the lawmakers including Nawaz Sharif.

The process of filing appeals against the decisions of returning officers regarding the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers for the upcoming elections continues for the second consecutive day. Over 20 appeals have been filed in the Appellate Tribunal in Lahore, and the process of filing appeals is ongoing in other cities, including Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and more.
It should be noted that nine appellate tribunals have been established in the Lahore High Court.
