Energy crisis to shrink global GDP, increase poverty

Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan and President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, and All Karachi Industrial Alliance, Mian Zahid has warned that the energy crisis will shrink global GDP, increase poverty and degrade the envi-ronment.

In interactions with business community on Saturday, he said that the global energy crisis is resulting in the increased price of petrol, diesel, gas and coal but coal has seen the highest price surge which is up to 200 percent.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that the crisis has be-come a big threat to global recovery but it has also provided a new lease of life to the dying coal indus-try.
