Pakistan Muslim League-N President Nawaz Sharif has criticised those causing instability and tarnishing Pakistan’s name internationally, asserting that they have no interest in democracy.

In a meeting with Senate Parliamentary Leader Irfan Siddiqui on Saturday, Sharif remarked, “Seven years ago, we overcame several challenges that have now re-emerged as severe crises. The armed forces and security agencies must receive full support to eradicate terrorism.”

Nawaz Sharif emphasised that those disrupting stability within the country and defaming Pakistan abroad are indifferent to democracy and public concerns.

“These individuals consider Pakistan’s weaknesses or failures as their political successes. The issues that were resolved seven years ago have resurfaced as severe problems, but with sincere and diligent leadership, we will overcome these challenges.”

Nawaz Sharif reflected on past achievements, saying, “Seven years ago, we had controlled inflation, load shedding, and terrorism. We had freed ourselves from the IMF, but the devastation and decline that began in 2018 have created severe problems for the public, which will take time to resolve.” He reiterated the importance of supporting the armed forces and security agencies to eliminate terrorism, noting, “Peace and security are deeply linked to investment, development, and prosperity. Parliament must play a strong role in this regard.”

He said that in order to bring investment it was necessary to bring peace and stability in the country. He suggested that parliament should play its key role to bring investment in the country.

Nawaz Sharif hoped that PML-N incumbent leadership will be able to control these challenges again. He said that armed forces and security agencies should be fully supported to eradicate terrorism from the country.

On the occasion, Irfan Siddiqui presented a report on the parliamentary committee’s performance in Senate.
