TEHRAN – At least eight people were killed and 20 others injured in overnight US airstrikes on infrastructure in southern and western Iran, according to Iranian state media, as the military confrontation between Tehran and Washington intensified.
Iran’s state news agency reported that several infrastructure sites in multiple provinces were hit during the latest wave of US attacks.
Among the targets were six bridges in Hormozgan Province, the report said.
The latest strikes came after the US military announced it had carried out another night of operations aimed at further degrading Iran’s military capabilities. According to the US military, the attacks targeted military-related facilities, including sites on Qeshm Island and near Bandar Abbas, home to Iran’s largest commercial port as well as key naval and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) installations.
In response, Iran said it launched fresh attacks on US military facilities across the Gulf region following the sixth consecutive night of American strikes.
Iran also claimed it had targeted US military infrastructure in Kuwait, describing the operation as retaliation for recent American attacks inside Iran.
According to Iranian state television, drones were launched at what it described as US troop deployment sites and logistical support centres in Kuwait. Tehran said the operation was carried out in response to what it called US “crimes” and in revenge for those killed in the latest attacks.
Iran has also accused the United States of targeting civilian infrastructure, including an airport, a railway station and bridges, during recent strikes.
There was no immediate confirmation from US or Kuwaiti authorities regarding Iran’s claims of attacks on American military facilities in Kuwait, and the reported claims from both sides could not be independently verified.
The latest developments mark another sharp escalation in the ongoing conflict, which has seen daily exchanges of military strikes between the United States and Iran.
