ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and China have agreed to enhance collaboration in trade, investment, science and technology, digital economy and artificial intelligence.
This came at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Shanghai.
The two sides reviewed the broad canvas of Pakistan–China bilateral relations. They expressed satisfaction over the continued strength and steady growth of the bilateral partnership.
The two sides underscored the importance of advancing high-quality development under CPEC 2.0.
They reaffirmed their shared commitment to further deepening the Pakistan–China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
The two sides also exchanged views on the latest regional and global developments.
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to maintain close coordination and continue consultations on issues of mutual interest.
Both leaders also reiterated their commitment to continue cooperation at multilateral fora.
Earlier in the day, Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar concluded his two-day visit to Shanghai, China.
During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister signed the Agreement on the Establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization (WAICO) on behalf of Pakistan.
A total of twenty-nine countries signed the Agreement.
It may be recalled that Pakistan is one of the founding members of WAICO, a key platform for international cooperation, capacity building, and bridging the digital divide.
The signing ceremony was preceded by a banquet hosted by President Xi Jinping in honour of the visiting delegations.
The Deputy Prime Minister also attended the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference, which was inaugurated by President Xi Jinping.
Ishaq Dar also held meetings on the sidelines of the Conference with his counterparts and other dignitaries to discuss bilateral and multilateral matters of mutual interest.
