Based on a decree from the leader of the Islamic Emirate, eight government institutions that were not previously under the management of ministries have now been merged into ministries.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, stated that this decision was made following the leader’s decree to prevent institutional inflation, control excessive expenditures, and enhance effectiveness in operations.
Zabihullah Mujahid told TOLOnews, “These institutions have been changed and merged into other institutions, meaning they have been integrated into other departments. This process has been undertaken to prevent institutional inflation, control unnecessary expenditures, and ensure effective management of the institutions.”
The Supreme Audit Office (SAO) has been merged into the Directorate of Supervision and Prosecution of Decrees and Orders.
The Afghanistan Medical Council (AMC) has been turned into the General Directorate of the Ministry of Public Health.
The Afghanistan Food and Drug Authority has been merged into the Ministry of Public Health as the deputy body.
The Afghanistan Railway Authority has been given to the Ministry of Public Works and its directorate has been assigned to it.
The Central and Provincial Laboratories for Oil and Gas and its structures have been merged into the Revenue and Customs Deputy of the Ministry of Finance.
The Central and Provincial Laboratories for Food and its structures have been merged into the Deputy of Medicines and Food under the Ministry of Public Health.
The Vocational Training Directorates have been merged into the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and the National Olympic Committee has been merged with the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, which has been renamed the General Directorate of Olympics, Physical Education, and Sports.
The leader’s decree states that employees of the merged institutions and directorates of the Islamic Emirate should be employed based on their needs while ensuring their rights are preserved.—Tolonews
