Eight family members among 17 dead in pilgrims’ truck accident in Hub

LASBELA – At least 17 people, including eight members of a same family, were killed after a truck carrying pilgrims fell into a ditch in Hub district, Balochistan.

The incident took place on Wednesday night when the alleged negligence by the driver claimed several lives and injured more than 50 others.

The zaireen were going to Shah Noorani shrine in Khuzdar city of Balochistan from a village of Sindh’s Thatta when the truck carrying around 100 pilgrims plunged into the ditch while taking a turn.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah confirmed that 17 people lost their lives in the accident, adding that 52 injured were brought to hospital and 42 of them were discharged after treatment.

Expressing grief over the loss of lives, he said it was yet to determine what led to the deadly incident.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives. He said that best treatment should be provided to the injured people.
