ECP gets 2,000 laptops from HEC for ROs, DROs

In pursuance of the agreement, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had signed with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the former has received 2,000 laptops from the latter as the general elections, 2024 are approaching fast.

As per sources, the ECP had decided to give laptops to the returning officers (ROs) as well as district returning officers (DROs) so that they could perform their duties with ease.

It was after feeling helpless in the face of coalition government’s reluctance to hold elections despite its order, the Supreme Court (SC) finally on November 3, 2023 said that enough was enough and ordered the government to ensure the conduct of general elections on February 8, a day after President ArifAlvi and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja unanimously agreed on the aforementioned date during a meeting held at the President’s House.—NNI
