EC releases senate election candidates final list

The Provincial Election Commissioner and Returning Officer for the Senate Election in Sindh, Sharifullah, has released the final list of candidates contesting for various seats in the upcoming Senate elections. According to Form 54 issued on Thursday, a total of 20 candidates will be participating in the Senate elections from Sindh.

Among them, 11 candidates will vie for the 7 general seats, while 3 candidates are contesting for the 2 seats reserved for women, 4 candidates for the 2 seats designated for Technocrats/Ulema, and 2 candidates for the one seat reserved for non-Muslims. Representing the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), candidates such as Ashraf Ali Jatoi, Jeean Khan Sarfraz Rajar, Dost Ali Jessar, Syed Kazim Ali Shah, Syed Masroor Ahsan, and Nadeem Bhutto are contesting for the general seats, along with Amir Waliuddin Chishti of MQM Pakistan and four independent candidates. For the reserved seats for women, Rubina Qaimkhani and Quratul Ain Mari from PPP, and independent candidate Mehjabeen Riaz are in the race. In the category of reserved seats for Technocrat/Ulema, Sarmad Ali and Zamir Hussain Ghumro from PPP, along with two independent candidates, Abdul Wahab and Manzoor Ahmed Bhutto, will compete. PPP’s Poonjo and independent candidate Bhagwandas are contesting for the only reserved seat for non-Muslims, as per the Election Commission of Pakistan’s list. The polling for the Senate election is scheduled to take place at the Sindh Assembly on April 2, from 9 am to 4 pm.
