LAHORE – The European Air Safety Committee (EASA) on Friday reserved verdict on a plea moved by the relevant authorities in Pakistan seeking resumption of flights of Pakistani airlines.
A meeting was held in Brussels regarding the ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to European countries during which EASA briefed the relevant officials on the report from Pakistan’s Civil Aviation.
The sources said that a decision was made to restore flights of PIA and other Pakistani airlines to Europe during the meeting. The meeting also discussed PIA’s third country authorization, while the European Air Safety Committee reviewed the safety oversight measures of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
They said that the European Air Safety Committee will decide on granting permission for flights on December 6, and decisions regarding flights of other countries’ airlines to Europe will also be made on December 6.
Due to the pilots’ license scandal, a ban has been in place since 2020 on all Pakistani airlines, including PIA, for flights to European countries.
