Sindh Minister for Excise Taxation and Narcotics Control Department & Chairman SPPRA Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that Sindh government believes in transparency and software developed in consultation with USAID will definitely support procurement efficiency and enable Sindh Government transparent utilization of public funds.
This he said while talking to USAID delegation here on Wednesday at DG Office. It is to mention here that United States government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), partnered with Sindh Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (SPPRA) has created an e-procurement system. This customized software will standardize and automate the Government of Sindh’s procurement functions. On this occasion. USAID Deputy Mission Director Michael Rossman, Managing Director SPPRA Rubina Asif and other officers were also present.
On this occasion USAID Deputy Mission Michael Rossman said, ” I am thrilled that through the USAID Pakistan Capacity Development Services-Small Business project, USAID has been able to work hand-in-hand with the SPPRA to improve governance and accountability to the people of Sindh,” He added, “This new system will make government spending more accountable and provide better data for decision-making, which is necessary for any government department to operate.”Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla and MD SPPRA Rubina Asif expressed their appreciation for the U.S. government’s long standing support through USAID to the Government of Sindh across various sectors.
Mr. Chawla also appreciated US Government for help of Sindh flood affectees and expressed his hope that the US Government would continue its support for people of Sindh in future as well.
