Dumper-Mercedes collision

ACCORDING to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during an interaction with a visiting Saudi delegation, likened Pakistan’s confrontation with India to a collision between a “shining Mercedes” and a “Dumper truck loaded with stones”.

Speaking at a seminar held under the aegis of Waris Mir Foundation at Aiwan-e-Iqbal on Sunday, Naqvi said he had been witness to many key events that happened in the wake of the war between the two countries, also disclosing that our intelligence agencies had advanced information about Indian plans and location of its aircraft and swiftly gathered video footages of the six Indian planes downed by eagles of Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

The outcome of the brief war proves the Field Marshal correct in using the metaphor of Dumper and Mercedes as India suffered similar losses that a Mercedes would in a collision with a dumper truck loaded with stones. The truck remains intact but the sophisticated creature stands disfigured as evident from the physical military losses as well as massive diplomatic setbacks. Pakistan was able to achieve an undisputed victory against India as its defence forces, backed by the nation and parliament, jointly devised and executed a single strategy, which is in a sharp contrast to what happened on the other side that lacked moral or legal grounds to launch an aggression against a neighbour on false allegations. The misadventure was aimed at boosting political stature of a blood thirsty Prime Minister and send a chilling message of military superiority to the countries of the region and beyond but the collision has left India bruised badly as its forces stand demoralized and internally questions are being asked about the rationale of the war. Despite intensive diplomatic campaigns, India has not been able to convince the international community of the justification for the conflict and is further damaging its credibility and position by adopting an unrealistic stand on the issue of flow of Pakistan’s share of water under the Indus Basin Treaty. India has also been averse to the idea of mediation on Kashmir and used bilateral dialogue to buy time to consolidate its illegal hold of the disputed region but its Pahalgam false flag operation and the hot conflict between the two nuclear armed neigbours have pushed the Kashmir issue back on international agenda with all influential members of the civilized world emphasizing the need for its peaceful and just settlement. To the dismay of India, the White House is repeatedly talking about its intentions to play the role of a mediator to address the issue as it did in the case of a ceasefire. India’s credibility and reputation was badly damaged due to its crushing defeat at the hands of Pakistan defence forces and instead of pursuing a realistic damage control strategy, it is incurring more losses because of silly focus on jingoism, tendency of hurling threats on Pakistan and recourse to water aggression in clear violations of the international law and rulings of arbitration courts. Its military leadership is boasting about inflicting losses on Pakistan but there is not a single evidence to prove them right even after the lapse of three months. As against this, the entire global community seems to be mesmerized due to legendary performance of its three defence forces and the Interior Minister has a point in declaring that Pakistan intelligence agencies get the credit for precise, timely and comprehensive response to Indian invasion as they gathered necessary data and information for a befitting response. It is also a fact that after failure of its strategy to portray the legitimate cause of Kashmiris for freedom as terrorism and Pakistan as a sponsor of terrorism, India is now trying to harm Pakistan by aiding and abetting acts of terrorism and sabotage in Balochistan but there are already indications that New Delhi has started losing this war as well.
