LAHORE – YouTube star Saad-ur-Rehman, aka Ducky Bhai, has turned to Lahore High Court seeking post-arrest bail in a high-profile case involving the promotion of online gambling apps.
Currently behind bars under the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the controversial content creator has submitted his petition through his legal counsel to the registrar’s office of the Lahore High Court.
This comes after district and sessions court in Lahore firmly rejected his bail plea on October 2, after intense arguments from both sides. Rehman and his wife, Aroob Jatoi, were nabbed by National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on August 16 as the couple prepared to leave the country, sparking a media frenzy. Court records reveal that while Ducky Bhai remains in custody, his wife and his manager have been granted interim bail in the ongoing case.
Authorities allege that Ducky Bhai exploited his massive social media following for personal profit by encouraging fans and followers to invest in online gambling applications. Investigators claim this promotion has caused countless individuals to lose their hard-earned savings, adding fuel to a growing public outcry against the influencer.
As the case unfolds, all eyes remain on Lahore High Court, where the fate of one of Pakistan’s most notorious YouTubers hangs in the balance.
NCCIA Officials Arrest
Lahore court approved extension in physical remand of National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) officers accused of accepting bribes, ordering their production again on November 3. The officers were initially arrested in a case linked to a Rs9 million bribe allegedly taken from the family of YouTuber Saad-ur-Rehman, aka Ducky Bhai, to provide relief to him and his wife.
The accused include senior NCCIA officials Additional Director Sarfraz Chaudhry, Deputy Directors Zawar Ahmed, Muhammad Usman, and Ayaz Khan, and Assistant Directors Shoaib Riaz and Mujtaba Zafar along with two sub-inspectors and a civilian alleged to be a frontman.
FIA reported recovering Rs42.55 million from the suspects and is investigating their assets and the sources of illicit payments. The court handed the officers back to FIA custody under the extended remand, with the next hearing scheduled for November 3.
