A bloody shootout between the law enforcers and the alleged terrorists in Swabi district on Wednesday resulted in the Shahadat of a young and senior police officer and serious injuries to two cops. A militant was also killed in the encounter.
Reports reaching here said the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Swabi, namely Allama Iqbal was martyred while two constables sustained injuries during an alleged encounter on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the Kalu Khan village of tehsil Razzar. Acting on an intelligence tip-off, police raided a suspected militant safe house. The suspects opened fire on the police officials after their arrival and as a result, DSP Allama Iqbal embraced martyrdom and two others were critically injured.
A suspected militant, identified as Naseer, was also killed in the police action. Naseer was wanted for attacks on police, security forces and extortion.
“The Shaheed Officer was a brave man and had been after the outlaws since long.
The encounter took place in Shairu Ghund area Wednesday wee hours that led to the Shahadat of DSP Allama Iqbal on the spot”. Spokesman of the Swabi Police Noman told Pakistan Observer adding two cops Faisal and Tayyab sustained serious injuries.
