A local court on Monday awarded imprisonment and fine to a narcotics case convict. The Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Zahid Ghaznavi awarded sixteen months imprisonment and fine amounting to Rs 20000 to a convict, Shakeel. In case of not paying the fine, the convict would face three months extra imprisonment.
The Head Marala police had recently arrested Shakeel with 1.51 kg hashish, according to the prosecution. Meanwhile, the worthy judge also visited the District Jail Sialkot, during which he inspected kitchen, hospital, barrack for female prisoners and other parts of the jail along with the Jail Superintendent Ataullah. The judge ordered release of four prisoners, involved in minor offences and also distributed gift packs among the children of the female prisoners.
