Digging work of new drainage from Jalalpur Bhattian Town to the Rive Chenab has started to address longstanding drainage problems of the Jalalpur Bhattian and ten adjoining villages which will complete with the cost of five million rupees.

MNA Ch. Shoukat Ali Bhatti, Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, Punjab, Muhammad Mamoon Tarar, and Deputy Commissioner, Naveed Shahzad Mirza launched digging work of the drainage.

Addressing the ceremony, DC said that people of Jalalpur Bhattian and adjoining villages including Para Jalalpur, Thatha Sikandar, Kotlla Aanand, Kot Ghazi, Malahanwala were facing hardship due to standing stagnant water in the area for long and an estimate of Rs.230 million was submitted to the government for approval but due to non-availably of funds for constructing concrete drainage could not be approved for the want of funds by the government.

In view of the hurdles of the people, MNA Ch. Shoukat Ali Bhatti and MPA Muhammad Mamoon Tarar decided to dig instead of construction of concrete drainage for providing immediate relief to the people.
