Dr Yasmin visits Mayo hospital, monitor emergency services

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid reached Mayo Hospital to personally monitor emergency services for victims of Anarkali blast here on Thursday.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi accompanied the Health Minister. The Minister reviewed available facilities and inquired from patients. Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Professor Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, CEO Mayo Hospital Pro-fessor Dr. Saqib Saeed and MS Mayo Hospital Dr. Iftikhar apprised the Minister of latest situation and status of treatment. The Health Mi-nister directed staff to ensure best possible treatment to patients.

Later, responding to queries of journalists present there, the Health Minister said, “So far 28 patients have been brought to Mayo Hospital. Two of them sadly lost lives and four are critically injured. It is a tragic incident and we are making all out efforts on our part to ensure best available services. The first hour in such emergencies is golden hours having maximum chances of saving live. Timely first aid and treatment can save many lives. Currently 22 patients out of 26 un-der treatment are out of danger. We will continue to provide latest situation to people. No patient was reported with burn injury as most cases are of ortho or head injuries. I hope all patients will recover very soon. All necessary medicines are available.”

To another query she said that only police or interior department can give final report to nature of material used in blast. She said health officials are in coordination with police department for handing over of dead bodies to families of deceased. She also said the health department will coordinate with In-terior Department for Forensic Re-port.
