Wall Street stocks tumbled with other leading equity markets Friday on mounting fears that the coronavirus will significantly dent global growth.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average skidded 2.1 percent, losing more than 600 points to finish the session at 28,256.03, the biggest decline since August.
The broad-based S&P 500 fell 1.8 percent to 3,225.52, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 1.6 percent to 9,150.94.
At least 213 people have died and nearly 10,000 people have been infected by the new coronavirus, while fresh cases were found abroad with more than 20 countries now affected.—APP
