CORONA or no Corona, US President keep pulling up surprises for opponents, a trick which often pays him back, and he appears smarter than before. Even in this crisis, when the world appears puzzled with a diseases, unknown till it began to devour human lives, and refuses to me merciful, even after a heavy death toll of over 300,000, Donald Trump remains in his uusual seelf. The president has repeatedly failed to take the recommended COVID-19 precaution of wearing a mask, but keeps pushing bogus theories and untested drugs.
Philip Rucker and Nancy Cook discuss, two eminent analysts keep repeating to their followers. Rachel Maddow looks back at the origins of the White House’s ‘cubic model,’ created by non-scientists based on unknown data, to predict that COVID-19 deaths would hit zero by May 15, already gone without even attracting attention. Reacting to President Trump firing his fourth inspector general in 6 weeks, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says: ‘You cannot hide from the truth, you cannot run away from the truth.
This is another glaring example of the president’s aversion to truth, which hurts the American people, reported National Broadcasting Corporation. There are many such similar reactions on record now. Gupta: Trump should be ‘ashamed’ of pushing untested drug to fight Covid-19, says prominent TV analyst. Navajo communities battling Covid-19 often fight without running water, steady electricity, internet, says another analyst. Senator Klobuchar: ‘We can’t let everyone in the country go bankrupt’, Trump fires fourth Inspector General fourth inspector general in two months.
What can Congress do about it? Chris Hayes: Georgia, Texas, Florida take on high-level risk with uncertain future, Dr. Joseph Fair released from hospital, on oxygen after coronavirus battle, while senator Schumer describe his approach as ‘Dangerous’ for Trump to say he uses hydroxychloroquine (MSNBC) In the latest episode of the ‘Into America’ podcast, host Trymaine Lee examines the future of the nation’s airlines.
He talks with NBC News Correspondent Tom Costello, who has been covering the industry for 15 years, about what the airlines are doing – and not doing – to win back the public’s confidence and save their businesses. No matter what, flying may never be the same.
New episodes drop every Monday and Thursday, wherever you get your podcasts. Trump is carrying out his campaign, in small way though, distributing miniature flags which could be seen anywhere sking for his second term as president of United States.
Speaking to reporters during an event just a day ago, President Trump made a surprising pivot away from attacking a whistleblower who had criticized his administration’s handling of the coronavirus epidemic.
The whistleblower, Rick Bright, claimed he was fired by the White House for criticizing Trump’s endorsement of the anti malarial drug hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for covid-19, the disease caused by the virus. But Trump noted it was Bright himself who in his official capacity signed a request to the Food and Drug Administration to provide emergency authorization for the drug’s use to treat the disease. Then there are stories in The Washington Post which have already considerable focus.
‘Now, if he doesn’t believe in it, why would he sign it? And a lot of good things have come out about the hydroxy. A lot of good things have come out,’ Trump said. ‘You’d be surprised at how many people are taking it, especially the front-line workers, before you catch it. The front-line workers, many, many are taking it.’ ‘I happen to be taking it. I happen to be taking it,’ Trump then added. A murmur in the room.
He was taking hydroxychloroquine? ‘Right now,’ Trump claimed. ‘Couple of weeks ago I started taking it because I think it’s good. I’ve heard a lot of good stories.’ The White House doctor approved his use of the medication, Trump said, noting that it has ‘been around for 40 years’ to treat other
