Coupled with a dedicated media platform to chronicle violations against holy sites and worshippers and place them before international organizations and the wider world, the initiative seeks to ensure that documented evidence is transformed into sustained international awareness and pressure.
Israeli actions in the occupied Palestinian territories are no longer hidden from the world. The expansion of illegal settlements, escalating settler violence, repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, restrictions on Palestinian worshippers, interference in the affairs of the Jerusalem Awqaf and excavations beneath and around the holy site have all been extensively reported. Yet despite the growing body of evidence, accountability has remained elusive, while the violations continue with alarming regularity. The challenge today is not simply exposing these violations but ensuring that they remain at the forefront of international attention and generate meaningful diplomatic and political action. For this mechanism to fulfil its purpose, it must operate beyond the confines of official diplomacy. Its findings should be disseminated in a credible, timely and accessible manner to audiences in major world capitals, where public opinion often shapes government policy. Greater awareness among citizens can translate into greater pressure on governments to adopt more principled positions and play a more active role in addressing the continuing violations. Documentation, after all, is only the first step; its real value lies in mobilizing international opinion and strengthening the demand for accountability. Protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque and preserving the historical and legal status quo of Jerusalem are not merely religious concerns but matters of international law and global responsibility. The Jordan initiative has offered an opportunity to transform concern into coordinated action. It should now be matched by sustained diplomatic resolve to ensure that repeated violations no longer pass without scrutiny or consequence.
