JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has reacted to a statement made by Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations Maj-Gen Asif Ghafoor, who had yesterday questioned which ‘institution’ the opposition had referred to in their speeches at the Azadi March rally.
Rehman said by talking about the army’s constitutional and legal role, the ISPR chief had himself made clear which ‘institution’ the JUI-F chief was referring to in his address.
“He should not involve himself in politics. When we don’t want a clash with institutions why has the DG ISPR tried to push the institution of army towards a clash with the people?” the JUI-F said while talking to media.
He said the statement given by Maj-Gen Ghafoor would have suited a politician. “The army is an impartial institution and it should have stayed that way,” he added.
