Canal Department completed arrangements for de-silting of 151 canals in Multan Zone.
According to Chief Engineer Canal Department Muhammad Ashraf Bhatti on Tuesday, the process of de-silting will commence from January 11 which will be completed in two phases.
During first phase, the work will start on 60 canals. However, he saidin the second phase, 91 canals will be cleaned up. The Chief Engineer stated that de-silting is important to improve water flow.
The improved water flow is essential for high production of different crops. Agriculture is backbone of the countrys economy and well being of the farming community, he said and added, the country can make rapid progress by promoting agriculture.
