Deputy Director FIA gunned down in Lakki Marwat

A senior officer of the Federal Investigation Agency was murdered in broad day light in Lakki Marwat district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday.

Inamullah Marwat serving as the Deputy Director in prime investigation agency of the country was killed when unidentified men opened fire on him in Taja Zai area of the Lakki Marwat district.

“FIA officer was killed in the jurisdiction of Ghazni Khel police station in Lakki Marwat by unknown terrorists few yards away from the office of the District Police Officer Lakki,” official and independent sources said.

Inamullah Marwat was posted in Dera Ismail Khan as FIA deputy director but he was on vacation in his hometown. Lakki Marwat has been in the grip of terrorists’ activities for the last few months and the law enforcers have been conducting operations in various districts of D I Khan including Lakki to flush out the miscreants from the region and gunned many outlaws in the process.

The dead body of the slain officer was shifted to the hospital for autopsy. As the local police claimed Inamullah Marwat fell prey to the old enmity, an FIR has been registered against a man named Shareef Ullah and Ali Bahadar. However, senior officials said it was yet to be ascertained as to what was the cause of FIA senior officer’s murder.

Police have started probe into the incident collecting some evidences from the site. Heavy contingent of police and other law enforcing agencies rushed to the site of the murder and are also reported to have kicked off search and net operation in the adjoining areas though the assassins remained at large.
