More than 15 national and international flights from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport were delayed Sunday morning after dense fog made a comeback.

People in the city woke up to a hazy day after visibility dropped to less than 100 meters. Some residents of rural Punjab said the fog was so bad; it was hardly possible to look at someone standing at a distance of two feet.

According to the airport spokesperson, the schedule of arrivals was affected the most.

An Oman flights headed to Lahore was rerouted to land in Multan. Airplanes coming the Sialkot airport were, on the other hand, diverted to Islamabad.

Officials have advised people to leave for the airport after checking the flight schedule online.

Meanwhile, several motorways leading in and out of Punjab were reopened for traffic for Sunday afternoon after the fog cleared.

They were closed early morning.

The motorway police said that visibility on the National Highway significantly dropped. Residents have been advised to refrain from unnecessary travel and use fog lights.
