In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, protest demonstrations were held in different areas of the territory against the anti-people policies of the authorities.

The residents of Zaindar Mohalla area of Habba Kadal in Srinagar staged a protest against the Water Department for failing to provide adequate water supply to them for the last four months. Scores of women from the locality blocked the main road, causing traffic jam in the area.

The protesters said, it has been nearly four months that the consumers in this area are not getting adequate water supply. We have been given assurances multiple times by the authorities, but nothing has been done in this regard, they said.

Shopkeepers organized a demonstration against the authorities for failing to repair a long patch of road at Regipora near new Bus stand in main town Kupwara. The protesting shopkeepers said that the patch remained unattended even after they approached the concerned officials numerous times for its repairing. But even after the passage of five long years nothing concrete has been done in this regard so far, they added.

The owners of tippers and tractor-trolleys protested against the Mining Department of the territory for overcharging royalty near the village Dhora of Samba.—KMS
