Seventy-five deaths were reported in Pakistan because of Coronavirus on Wednesday with at least 2,829 new Covid-19 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours as the rapid increase in the number of infections continues.
According the latest stats released by the National Command and Operation Centre, at least 35,197 people were tested, of whom 2,829 tested positive for the virus. The positivity rate now stands at 8.04%.
Coronavirus has claimed life of another doctor in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Dr. Farooq was additional director of Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital, Bannu. Dr. Farooq was being treated in Peshawar’s North West Hospital and was shifted on ventilator after his condition deteriorated.
The association further said that 40 health workers including 25 doctors have succumbed to coronavirus but government has so far not given any martyrs package.
Sindh Police on Wednesday said that 51 more policemen have been tested positive of coronavirus in three days. According to the spokesperson, “Presently, the tally of novel coronavirus active cases in police department is 202.”
Till now 175,642 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 120,356 in Punjab, 47,701 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 17,215 in Balochistan, 30,748 in Islamabad, 6,982 in Azad Kashmir and 4,667 in Gilgit-Baltistan. The province’s death toll from the novel coronavirus had reached 2,962, said Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday.
He said another 1,292 coronavirus cases had surfaced in the province when 9,752 samples were tested in a day, which meant the virus detection rate was 13.2 per cent.
