Deputy Commissioner Asad Ali Khan, at the helm of a pivotal polio eradication meeting, underscored the gravity of this infectious disease, declaring it a national responsibility to shield children. He fervently appealed to the public, especially parents district-wide, urging them to ensure that every child, from birth to five years, receives two crucial drops of the polio vaccine.

The upcoming campaign, slated from November 27 to December 3, 2023, aims not only to prevent the spread of polio but also to safeguard children from potential lifelong disabilities.
Presiding over the meeting at the Makli Darbar hall, Deputy Commissioner Khan directed focal persons to meticulously recheck microplans, leaving no room for deficiencies and striving for a flawless execution with a hundred percent accuracy. Sternly cautioning against any oversight in union councils, he emphasized a zero-tolerance approach toward lapses.

Additionally, he instructed assistant commissioners to provide comprehensive briefings on finger-marking procedures during the door-to-door visits by polio teams in their respective areas.
Special attention was urged for transit points, with a categorical emphasis on ensuring complete coverage for the 1322 missing children, replicating the success achieved in the previous campaign. The meeting drew participation from key stakeholders, including representatives from UNICEF, WHO, MERF, the education department, the coast guard, rangers, police.
