DC orders intensifying anti-dengue action

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bhakkar Dr Noor Muhammad Awan has directed the officers concerned to expedite anti-dengue activities in their respective areas.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, the DC said that indoor and outdoor surveillance should be conducted in all vulnerable areas of the district due to current weather conditions.

The authorities concerned should take effective measures to control dengue while special teams, the under anti-dengue drive, should inspect residential and commercial places and educate citizens about importance of sanitation, cleanliness and preventive measures against dengue, he added.

DC Noor Muhammad Awan said hotels, restaurants, workshops, tyre shops and junkyards/ godowns should be checked properly. He urged citizens to adopt precautionary measures and remove stagnant water from their homes and rooftops as most of dengue larvae and adult mosquito were found in air-coolers, water drums and scrap items.

On the ot her and seven shopkeepers were booked accused of profiteering from various parts of the city, here on Friday.

According to official sources, the price control magistrates inspected various points including Muhammadi market, Muqam-e-Hayat, Noori Gate, Sillanwali road, Faisalabad road and its surroundings arrested seven shopkeepers including Javed, Naveed, Faisal and others for overcharging and imposed hefty fines.

Cases were registered against the accused persons.

Meanwhile police arrested five drug-peddlers and recovered narcotics from them, here on Friday.

A police spokesperson said that during the ongoing drive against drug-pushers, teams of different police stations conducted raids at various places, arrested drug-peddlers and recovered 2.8-kg hashish and 65-litre liquor from them.

The accused were identified as Hamid, Azhar, Shaukat, Pervaiz and Asghar. Separate cases were registered.
