ISLAMABAD – As Pakistan looks to strengthen its global economic partnerships, a high-level meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and US lawmakers has signaled renewed momentum in Pakistan-US relations, with both sides pledging to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, IT and energy.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to broadening bilateral ties, agreeing to strengthen cooperation across trade, investment, information technology, energy and several other sectors as both countries seek to inject new momentum into their longstanding partnership. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and a two-member US congressional delegation in Islamabad on Monday.

American delegation led by Congressmen Ryan Zinke and Michael Baumgartner, discussed a wide range of issues aimed at further strengthening Pakistan-US relations and unlocking new opportunities for economic and strategic collaboration.
Dar and other congressmen held detailed discussions on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, IT, energy and other areas of mutual interest, reflecting a shared desire to deepen engagement beyond traditional diplomatic channels.
US lawmakers also acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability across the region. They further appreciated the contributions of the Pakistani-American community, recognizing its role in strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Pakistan-US relations were moving in a positive direction and stressed that significant opportunities exist to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, Dar added.
The meeting comes as Islamabad seeks to enhance economic partnerships, attract greater foreign investment and deepen collaboration with Washington in sectors critical to Pakistan’s economic growth and technological development. Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to further strengthen bilateral relations and maintain close engagement in the months ahead.
