MURADABAD –  In another horrifying incident, a Dalit nurse was allegedly raped by a doctor in a private hospital in India’s Muradabad district on Thursday.

According to the local media, the 20-year-old nurse was on duty at the hospital when she was held captive and sexually assaulted by the doctor.

The victim’s father reported to the police that the assault took place between the night of August 17th and the early hours of August 18th.

His daughter had started her shift at 7pm on August 17th when another nurse informed her that the doctor had called her to his room.

Upon her refusal to meet the doctor, the other nurse and a ward boy allegedly forced her into the doctor’s room and locked the door from outside.

The doctor then entered the room, locked it from the inside and raped the nurse.

The victim’s father also claimed that the doctor threatened to kill his daughter and verbally abused her due to her caste.

Following the complaint, the police arrested three accused individuals—the doctor, the nurse and the ward boy.

The victim’s father called on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take swift action and demanded the death penalty for those responsible for the crime.

On August 9th, a horrific incident occurred at Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Hospital, where a lady trainee doctor was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered by a police volunteer, who was drunk.

This incident shocked the medical community and prompted widespread protests across the region.

The brutal case in Kolkata follows another disturbing event in the state of Uttar Pradesh. On August 8th, the body of a nurse from Uttarakhand was discovered in the Bilaspur district of Uttar Pradesh. She had been missing since July 31st, and her sister had filed a missing person’s report on the same day. The authorities are investigating this case as a potential homicide, though details remain scarce.

Such incidents have sparked nationwide outrage, with many urging the government to address the growing concern of violence against women, particularly in the healthcare sector.
