Officials from the Water Corporation have revealed that approximately 100,000 gallons of fresh water were being stolen daily at Lilli Bridge under the guise of “subsoil water” extraction. The authorities clarified that a recent operation at the site was targeted at water thieves, not provincial advisor Syed NajmiAlam, as had been circulated on social media. Addressing the issue, KW&SC officials stressed that they had no connection to the claims linking the operation to the provincial advisor.

Their focus remains on preventing the theft of water that rightfully belongs to the citizens of Karachi. The corporation, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, continues to take action against water theft, ensuring that such operations are conducted without discrimination. Officials assured the public that the protection of the city’s water supply is a priority, and no individual or group will be allowed to steal what belongs to the residents. The crackdown on water thieves will continue to be enforced rigorously.
