Dadu sizzled at 47°C and Mohenjo-Daro at 46°C as the heatwave continued to prevail across Sindh on Thursday.
In Karachi, the maximum temperature reached 35°C, with evening humidity climbing to 64%.
The experts have predicted the prevailing harsh weather conditions to persist across Sindh till May 11.
Synoptic Situation:
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, most parts of the country are currently under the influence of continental air, leading to hot and dry conditions.
PMD Forecast:
Very hot and dry weather is expected to prevail in Karachi, Hyderabad, and other districts of Sindh throughout the week.
Temperatures:
Karachi’s daytime temperatures are likely to range between 34°C and 36°C on Friday, 35°C and 37°C on Saturday, and 36°C and 38°C on Sunday.
Hyderabad is expected to experience more intense heat, with temperatures forecast between 38°C and 40°C on Friday, 39°C and 41°C on Saturday, and 40°C to 42°C on Sunday.
Past Weather:
Over the past 24 hours, hot and dry weather dominated much of Sindh. Dadu recorded 47°C with 23% evening humidity, while Karachi and Hyderabad saw highs of 35°C and 39°C, respectively, accompanied by moderate humidity.
Health Advisory:
Health experts have advised residents to take precautions, including avoiding outdoor exposure during peak hours—especially between 11 am and 3 pm—staying well-hydrated, and wearing light, loose clothing. People are also urged to cover their heads when stepping outside.
Doctors further recommend avoiding unhygienic street food and consuming clean or boiled water to reduce the risk of stomach-related illnesses.
