Customs officials at Jinnah International Airport successfully intercepted a significant drug smuggling attempt, seizing 1,250 grams of methamphetamine (ice) valued at approximately Rs. 20 million. The contraband was found in the luggage of Muhammad Mithal Jamali, a passenger en route to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The operation was initiated by Customs Deputy Collector Hamad Ahmed after suspicions arose during the scanning of Jamali’s belongings. A thorough inspection of his suitcase revealed the hidden methamphetamine. Preliminary investigations indicated that the total value of the seized drugs could exceed Rs. 2 crore. Jamali has been taken into custody for further questioning regarding potential connections to drug trafficking facilitators. In a separate incident, customs officials at the same airport also apprehended two passengers attempting to smuggle over AED 100,000 out of Pakistan. The suspects, identified as Muntazir Mehdi and Mohammad Kashif, were preparing to board a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight to Dubai when the money was discovered during routine checks.
