The Counter-Terrorism Department on Thursday claimed to have killed at least two operatives of the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan during an Intelligence Based Operation conducted in Lakki Marwat district.
The terrorists, CTD officials claimed, were planning to target sensitive installations in parts of the province.
“The killed terrorists were affiliated with the TTP. The law enforcement personnel conducted an intelligence-based operation in Lakki Marwat during which the terrorists opened fire. In the prompt retaliatory fire, two terrorists were shot dead while others managed to escape,” the CTD spokesperson said.
These terrorists were planning to target sensitive institutions and were wanted by the police for several cases, including target killings and bomb blasts. The killed terrorists were affiliated with Tipu Gul group of TTP.
During the operation, the CTD personnel recovered grenades, arms, and ammunition from the killed terrorists.
Meanwhile, a policeman was injured when unidentified attackers hurled hand grenades at a police check-post in tehsil Haleem Zai, Mohmand tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The attackers, as usual, managed to escape after the police’s retaliation. The officials said adding a search operation was kicked off in the region to apprehend the comrades of the terrorists.
