In most areas of Lower South Waziristan district, standing crops, vegetables and fruits have been completely destroyed due to heavy hailstorm, rain and stormy winds. Heavy rain and hailstorm lashed Zarmilan, a remote area of South Waziristan Lower, completely destroying all the crops in the area and most of the people in Waziristan depend on agriculture, but yesterday’s heavy rains, hailstorms and flash floods have completely destroyed all the standing crops in the area.

The local tribal elders of Zermilan region said that if the central and provincial governments do not address our losses, the farmers will face financial difficulties. Theybsaid that most of the farmers here have cultivated crops by taking loans from the markets but after the destruction due to hailstorm, it has become difficult for them to clear this loan.

Local elders have demanded NDMA and PDMA along with federal and provincial governments that all the places in Lower South Waziristan where hail has fallen should be surveyed and the area declared disaster prone and farmers should be financially supported because vegetables are a cash crop for farmers here, which has been destroyed.
