ISLAMABAD – The excise department in the federal capital has initiated a strict crackdown against unregistered vehicles, those with non-standard number plates, and vehicles with tinted windows.

The excise officials will impose heavy fines on the vehicles found involved in violations, the department said, adding that and no vehicle will be spared regardless of the area it belongs to.

In Quetta, there is an influx of vehicles with tinted windows, and Peshawar has also directed measures to ensure the prohibition of such vehicles.

According to the Excise Department, a vehicle with an engine capacity of up to 1,000 cc will be fined Rs5,000, a vehicle with an engine capacity between 1,000 cc and 2,000 cc will be fined Rs10,000 PKR, and vehicles with an engine capacity above 2,000 cc will incur fines of up to Rs20,000.

Director Excise Bilal Azam stated that no pressure will be accepted, and the registration of vehicles will be canceled until the fines are paid.

Director Excise Bilal Azam further stated that according to the Chief Commissioner’s notification, if the law is violated a second time, the fine will increase fivefold.
