The employees of Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Cardiology Institute (CPECI) staged a protest rally against the government for non-payment of salaries.
The protesting employees demanded the government and local administration to release their salaries, which have not been paid for the two months.
“Since Chief Executive Cardiology Institute was appointed as Vice Chancellor Nishtar Hospital, the employees have not received their salaries.
The Executive Director lacks the authority due to which various administrative and financial matters have come to a standstill.
In this regard, all the doctors, nurses and paramedical staff of the Cardiology Institute participated in the protest and demanded that their salaries be paid to the employees immediately or else next step would be to go on strike for which all the responsibility would fall on the Punjab government.
Addressing the protest, the speakers said that the staff of the hospital has never gone on strike since its inception.
Even in the days of covid-19 when operating theatres and outdoor wards in hospitals across the country were closed.
The protesting employees demanded the Punjab Chief Minister and other senior officials to immediately order release of their salaries.
