ISLAMABAD – Pakistan and China are entering new phase of cooperation under CPEC 2.0, with the initiative set to focus industrialization, I.T, agriculture, mining, and human resource development.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the next phase will align with Pakistan’s national development agenda to drive high-quality economic growth and deepen bilateral cooperation.
Addressing reception hosted by Chinese Embassy to mark 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Dar said the next stage of CPEC would move beyond infrastructure-led development and focus on high-quality economic growth, innovation, and long-term sustainability.

He described Pakistan’s all-weather strategic partnership with China as a cornerstone of the country’s foreign policy, emphasizing that bilateral cooperation has entered a new chapter with greater emphasis on productive sectors capable of driving economic expansion.
Congratulating the leadership and members of the CPC, Dar praised China’s transformation under the party’s leadership, saying its rapid economic rise and success in lifting hundreds of millions of people out of poverty had become a global example of development. He said China’s progress has extended beyond its borders by promoting shared prosperity and advancing the concept of a community with a shared future for humanity.
DPM highlighted enduring relationship between Islamabad and Beijing, the deputy prime minister said the two countries have built decades of trust, mutual respect, and strategic cooperation. He noted that both sides have consistently supported each other’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and core national interests, reinforcing what he described as an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
Dar said the launch of CPEC in 2015 marked a defining moment in bilateral ties, transforming economic cooperation between the two nations. According to him, the flagship initiative helped Pakistan address chronic electricity shortages, expand its road network, and create employment opportunities, particularly in less-developed regions.
Looking ahead, he said CPEC 2.0 would concentrate on industrial development, agriculture, mines and minerals, information technology, and workforce development. These priorities, he added, closely align with Pakistan’s 5E Development Framework, which focuses on boosting exports, accelerating digital transformation through e-Pakistan, tackling environmental and climate challenges, strengthening energy and infrastructure, and promoting equity and empowerment.
He posed confidence in the future of bilateral cooperation, Dar said synchronizing CPEC 2.0 with Pakistan’s national development strategy would unlock new opportunities for investment, innovation, and sustainable economic growth while injecting fresh momentum into the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He also praised role of political engagement between the Communist Party of China and Pakistan’s political parties, saying such exchanges have enhanced mutual understanding, facilitated the sharing of governance experiences, and strengthened people-to-people links. He stressed that successive Pakistani governments, regardless of political affiliation, have consistently treated relations with China as a national priority.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and international stability, Dar said Islamabad and Beijing would continue to work together to promote sustainable development and contribute to peace and stability beyond their borders.
The deputy prime minister also highlighted the longstanding relationship between the Communist Party of China and the Pakistan Muslim League (N), saying continued party-to-party engagement has played an important role in strengthening broader bilateral ties.
