With the addition of new cases of Corona in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the tally of those tested positive of the COVID-19 in the province has crossed 27000 figure with the number of those succumbing to the deadly epidemic touching 1000 figure. According to the statistics released by the provincial health department at least 10 more people have died from the novel coronavirus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last twenty four hours bringing the COVID-19 death toll in the province to 983.
Likewise, 232 new cases of COVID-19 were reported during the past 24 hours taking the total count of the infected people in the province 27,170. However, 14,715 active patients of the virus have recovered from the ailment so far including 1,131 new during the past 24 hours.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra said the province has plans to add over 1,000 beds across KP through July and early August adding the provincial government was rapidly enhancing healthcare capacity across the province. He said a newly converted 58 bedded dedicated Coronavirus facility in Peshawar to provide surge capacity, in partnership with MERF and IRC.
Talking to Media at Civil secretariat Peshawar on Friday the Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information and Public Relations Ajmal Khan Wazir has said that government was utilizing all its resources to cope with novel corona virus adding that Corona specialized hospital was established at Nishterabad Peshawar where all health facilities including testing services would be provided to public.
Ajmal Wazir informed that ‘ initially Nishterabad hospital will consist of 58 beds including 17 high dependency units (HDU) and 5 ICU beds, oxygen facility with each bed while in second phase the number of beds will be enhanced to 110.
