The court has postponed the hearing on the case concerning the collection of municipal taxes through electricity bills until October 9. The petitioner’s lawyer was instructed to continue their arguments in the next session. During the proceedings, the petitioner’s lawyer emphasized that K-Electric holds only a distribution license, asserting that the company is not authorized to collect taxes. “There exists a system in place; how can organizations operate without taxes?” Justice AmjadSehto questioned during the hearing. Advocate Tariq Mansoor highlighted that the imposition of Municipal Utility Charges (MUCT) violates the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2013.
