Leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Monday reiterated their vow to conduct the fairest elections in the country within 90 days and said that any attempt by the opposition to influence the Supreme Court would be resisted. Talking to the media, PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan said, “This election, that is going to be held within 90 days, will be the fairest election in the history of Pakistan as it will be conducted through electronic voting machines (EVMs).”
He added, “Now, the overseas Pakistanis will also be able to cast their votes in the election from abroad. Earlier, they had to travel to Pakistan to cast their votes, but now, they will be able to do that through an online voting process.” He alleged that both Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) wanted to get rid of the EVMs after the success of the no-confidence motion. “But, their conspiracy too has failed.”
He informed the media, “The President of Pakistan has written letters to Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is set to be the former premier after a few days, and to the opposition leader for sending names of the candidates for caretaker prime minister.” He added, “If names for the caretaker prime minister do not come from the opposition leader, the parliamentary procedure will be carried out accordingly.” He also said that the PTI was ready for general elections as the potential candidates of the party had been ordered to prepare themselves for elections. He also vowed to give party tickets to the determined workers of the party as “the PTI is going to become the original PTI”.
