Costly arms seized

Police seized a large quantity of ammunition during operation. According to details, On 6th May a credible information was received by Mr. Ashfaq Ahmed, Collector Customs Appraisement Peshawar which was passed on to Mr. Rizwan, Additional Collector who prepared a team under supervision of Deputy Collector, Hammad Ahmed that an attempt will be made to smuggle F/O contraband Arms and Ammunition in special designed cavity of the vehicle bearing registration No. C-8782 loaded with coal from Afghanistan to Pakistan.

It revealed that said vehicle was scanned by NLC Scanner and was found having abnormal scan image. The scanned image revealed some suspicious goods concealed in the special designed cavity of the vehicle. Therefore, Inspector Zia Ur Rehman along with Customs Staff started examination of the abnormal point.

The removal of metallic sheet revealed the presence of F/O Arms and ammunition details. 88 Nos. Of 12-Bore Gun having market value is 9.68 millions, 600 Nos. 12- Bore Cartridges having market value is 0.18 million, Mineral Coal 11000-Kgs having market value is 0.638 million.
