The second wave of Corona has sounded alarm for the Lahorites as spread rate of the global pandemic has increased to 6.19 percent while the virus claimed the life of Dr. Ziaullah, Professor of Medicine at Sheikh Zayed Hospital on Monday.
Former Home Secretary Hassan Wasim Afzal has been critical and was put on ventilator in Mayo Hospital.
According to details, the second wave of global epidemic Corona has intensified and the situation in Lahore has become serious. Following the deteriorating situation, the government issued notification, imposing smart lockdown in 26 more areas of the provincial metropolis.
According to health department, four people, including Dr Ziaullah, professor of medicine at Sheikh Zayed Hospital, lost their lives to Coronavirus.
Similarly, as many as 231 new cases reported in 24 hours while six more hotspot Punjab Assembly’s employees were tested positive for the virus. Whereas, Postgraduate College for Women Samanabad was sealed after seven of its teachers were diagnosed as having been affected by the virus.
On the other hand, former Punjab Home Secretary Hassan Waseem Afzal was admitted to Mayo Hospital for treatment. Mayo Hospital CEO Dr. Asad Aslam informed that Hassan Wasim Afzal’s condition is very serious and he is in a life and death struggle.
He further said that the team of doctors is paying special attention to him and the best medical facilities are being provided to him.
The former Home Secretary has been put on ventilator due to severe respiratory problems. A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Anti-Corona was convened to take action on the rise in deaths and the growing number of cases in the province.
The meeting considered various measures to stem the raging second of Coronavirus. On the instructions of the Punjab government, the Department of Primary and Secondary Health Care has issued notification of Smart Lock Down till December 8 in 24 hotspot areas of the city where cases of Corona have been on the rise.
However, despite the notification, no lockdown could be carried out in any of the areas so far.
On the other hand, the police have also failed to provide personnel for the implementation of the smart lockdown.
