Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi chaired a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner Korangi’s office to assess ongoing efforts aimed at controlling government-fixed prices of essential commodities, tackling encroachments, and addressing illegal parking that hampers traffic flow. The meeting brought together Deputy Commissioner Masood Bhutto and all assistant commissioners from the district, while officials from other districts participated via video link.

The meeting underscored the importance of accountability, deciding that officials who neglect their responsibilities in removing encroachments would face consequences. The Commissioner emphasized the need for an effective anti-encroachment campaign, urging deputy commissioners to intensify their efforts. Each assistant commissioner provided updates on the measures taken to resolve civic issues in their respective areas, detailing their visits to schools, health facilities, and various development projects.

It was agreed that they would compile comprehensive reports addressing issues in educational and healthcare sectors, which would inform proposals for improvements to be submitted to the relevant education and health departments. The discussion highlighted the persistent problem of encroachment, noting the resurgence of illegal structures and the inadequacy of efforts to eliminate them permanently. Several strategies were agreed upon to enhance the effectiveness of the anti-encroachment campaign targeting roads and footpaths.

Furthermore, the meeting determined that the responsibility for preventing re-encroachments would be delegated to the field staff of relevant departments. Deputy commissioners were tasked with identifying areas prone to repeated encroachments.
