Commissioner Pindi for improving performance of price magistrates

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer AamirKhattak has directed the Deputy Commissioners of all districts to further improve the performance of the Price Magistrates and immediately suspend the low performing Magistrates after giving them a warning and show-cause notice.

In a statement issued on Monday, he said that the government of Punjab was not leaving any stone unturned to provide relief to the public. Apart from the government subsidy, the number of price magistrates has also been increased to bring essential items within the reach of the common man. He said that our first priority was to deliver the full benefits of government subsidies to the people, for which it was necessary to continue indiscriminate actions against hoarding and illegal profiteering.

The Commissioner Rawalpindi directed that actions should be taken keeping in view the public complaints as well as the report of the Special Branch. On this occasion, while giving a briefing on the daily performance, the Commissioner was apprised that the number of Price Magistrates in Rawalpindi Division has been increased to 178.

During the 22 hours, 9917 inspections were done for price control, during which 199 violations were reported. A fine of Rs. 497,000 was imposed on violators and 01 FIRs was registered also 01 building was sealed and 39 people were arrested. Likewise, show cause notices were issued to 118 Price Magistrates who had done less checking across the division.
