Pakistan – The University Engineering and Technology, in collaboration with the Pak-US Alumni Network (PUAN), hosted an International Conference on climate change targetting planetpreservation, devising effective strategies for environmental conservation and combatting climate change. This significant event brought together various national and international speakers who shared their expertise and innovative ideas on the pressing issue of climate change.
Among the notable speakers was Dr Asif Channer, a prominent disaster emergency management professional and public health expert. Dr Channer has vast experience in disaster and emergency management within Pakistan. In his compelling address, he emphasized the critical need for individual and community roles in combating the climate change crisis that poses a severe threat to Pakistan and the global community.
Dr Channer highlighted Pakistan’s alarming status as one of the top countries affected by smog in recent years, underscoring the detrimental effects this crisis has on health, the environment, and the economy. He called for urgent preventive and remedial measures to be implemented by the government, various stakeholders, and the community to safeguard the interests of future generations.
The conference’s theme, “Preserving Our Planet: Strategies for Environmental Conservation and Combatting Climate Change,” served as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaborative efforts to address environmental challenges. Speakers presented a range of strategies and solutions aimed at promoting sustainable practices and reducing the impacts of climate change.
