SYDNEY – Pakistani-origin Australian batsman Usman Khawaja ended his international cricket career on an emotional note, as he could not make a big impact in his final match.

In the last Test of the Ashes series in Sydney, Australia secured a five-wicket victory over England. However, Khawaja struggled with the bat, scoring 17 runs in the first innings and just 6 in the second.

Khawaja’s farewell marked the end of an era for one of Australia’s most accomplished batsmen, remembered for his calm demeanor, consistency and dedication to the sport.

As he walked out to bat for the final time, Khawaja was honored with a guard of honor by the English players. Upon reaching the crease, his teammate Marnus Labuschagne warmly embraced him, marking a touching farewell. After being dismissed, Khawaja offered a prayer of gratitude on the field, while his wife, Rachel Khawaja, was seen shedding tears during the moment.
