CM Praises JPMC’s Prof. Rasool for UK Honorary Degree

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah praised the Executive Director of the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Prof. Dr. Shahid Rasool, for receiving an honorary degree in the United Kingdom. Dr. Rasool, a renowned surgeon and leader of Sindh’s largest government hospital, was honored by the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, for his achievements in the field of surgery.

The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh is one of two prominent Scottish institutions, alongside the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow. Prof. Rasool, who earned his first degree from the Royal College of Glasgow, has now been recognized by both institutions, cementing his place as a leading figure in surgical care. The Chief Minister highlighted Prof. Rasool’s significant contributions to the field, stating: “Prof Rasool has been an asset to Sindh, Pakistan.” He went on to note that Prof. Rasool’s accomplishments not only bring pride to the country but also showcase Sindh’s representation at the esteemed medical institution in the UK.

Prof. Rasool has led the way in introducing and conducting advanced robotic surgeries at JPMC. Under his leadership, the hospital has also provided specialized training to its medical staff, ensuring that more doctors are proficient in the cutting-edge technology of robotic surgery. The Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, based in Karachi, stands as the largest hospital in Pakistan. The Chief Minister emphasized the Sindh government’s dedication to the continued development of the hospital, which plays a vital role in the healthcare landscape of the country.
