CM, NAB chief affirms securing govt lands

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah held a meeting with Chairman NAB, Lieutenant General (Retd) Nazir Ahmed. The meeting, attended by NAB officials including DG NAB Javed Akbar Riyaz, DG Karachi FaizQureshi, and DG Operations Tariq Butt, focused on discussions about ongoing investigations into corruption. Chief Secretary AsifHaider Shah, Principal Secretary Agha Waseem, Senior Member Board of Revenue Baka Allah Anwar, Secretary Forests BadrJameel, Chief Conservator RiyazWagan, among others attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed NAB’s investigations related to corruption. Discussions were held on safeguarding 3.6 trillion rupees worth of forest land. NAB, the Forest Department, and the Revenue Department have achieved significant results through their joint efforts. NAB and the Sindh government reported the recovery of 18 lakh acres of land, worth 3.6 trillion rupees, from illegal occupation and its transfer to the Forest Department. 98 percent of the forest land has been transferred to the revenue records. Nearly 70 percent of illegal encroachments have been removed.  A significant number of illegal land allotments have been canceled. Survey of Pakistan has completed 75 percent of the forest boundary demarcation. Chairman NAB praised the efforts of NAB officers and Sindh government departments in reclaiming and securing government land. Chief Minister Sindh directed the Forest Department and the Board of Revenue to secure the recovered land and emphasized that no part of government land should be allowed to be occupied. Both the Chief Minister and the NAB Chairman reaffirmed their commitment to combating corruption.
