CM Murad orders setting up 200-bed rehabilitation center

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has decided to establish a 200-bed hospital/center for rehabilitation of drug edicts at Kambar-Shahdadkot district and meanwhile directed police department to speed up operation against drug mafia, their traffickers and peddlers.

This, he said, while presiding over a review meeting of law and order here at the CM House on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Mumtaz Shah, IG Sindh Mushtaq Maher, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, Special Secretary Home Nasi, Adl.

IG Special Branch Ghulam NabiMemon, Adl IG Karachi Imran YakoobMinhas, DIG East DIG South Javed Akbar Riaz, DIG HQs Pir Mohammad Shah, DIG West Cap (retd) Asim, DIG CTD Omer Shahid, DIG CIA NaumanSiddiqui, Adl Secretary to CM FayazJatoi.

DIG Hyderabad SharjeelKharal, DIG Mirpurkhas Zulfikar Mahar, DIG LarkanaMazhar Nawaz Shaikh, DIG Sukkur Fida Mastoi and SSP Shaheed Benazirabad attended the meeting through video link.

Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Mahar briefing the chief minister said that 263 cases were registered against drug mafia, of them 51 in South Zone, 77 East Zone, 53 West Zone, 16 Hyderabad, 15 Mirpurkhas, 13 Shaheed Benazirabad, 21 Sukkur and 17 Larkana.

Mahar said that 71 culprits were arrested, including each one from South and East Zones, three from West, 21 Larkana, 12 each from Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Shaheed benazirabad and nine from Sukkur and recovered 7185 kgsgutka and Mawa.

The IG said that 211 culprits were arrested from all over Sindh and recovered 299 kgs of charas, four kg Ice, 3.432 Kg heroin, 2 kg opium and 7675 bottles of liquor from their possession.

The chief minister directed the chief secretary and IG police to prepare a scheme to establish a 200-bedded rehabilitation center for drug addicts.

“The government would establish the center and a well-reputed private partner would be given to function it,” he said.

Murad Shah directed the Additional IG Karachi and all the regional DIGs not only target the retailers of drugs but round up the smugglers, major dealers and traffickers. “I am committed to purge the province of different kinds of narcotics,” he said.
